Privacy Policy — Bracket Breeze

1. Overview

Bracket Breeze (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates a tournament management platform at bracketbreeze.app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and password (hashed). You may optionally add a profile photo, phone number, and skill rating.

Event registration data: When you register for an event, we collect team and roster information, division selections, and payment confirmation records (not raw card data — that stays with Stripe).

Promoter data: If you sign up as a tournament Promoter, we additionally collect organization details, your connected Stripe account ID, and event content you create on the Platform.

Usage data: We collect standard server logs including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This helps us debug issues and understand how the Platform is used.

3. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account and authenticate your identity.
To process event registrations and coordinate with Promoters.
To send transactional emails (registration confirmations, event reminders).
To send SMS notifications if you opt in and provide a phone number.
To facilitate payments through Stripe on behalf of Promoters.
To improve the Platform through usage analytics and error monitoring.
To respond to support requests and communicate about your account.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Sharing

With Promoters: When you register for an event, your name, email, and roster information are shared with the Promoter running that event. Promoters are independent organizations responsible for their own use of your data.

With Stripe: Payment transactions are handled by Stripe. Stripe processes your payment information under their own Privacy Policy. We receive a payment confirmation but never store raw card details.

With service providers: We use Supabase (database hosting), Resend (transactional email), and Twilio (SMS). These providers access your data only as necessary to deliver their services.

Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Bracket Breeze or others.

5. SMS Communications

How you opt in. When you create an account on bracketbreeze.app or a Promoter's subdomain, you may provide a mobile phone number. We then send a one-time verification code to that number. By entering the code and completing signup, you consent to receive SMS messages from Bracket Breeze.

Types of messages you may receive. Account verification codes (one-time passwords), event reminders, check-in time notices, court assignments, schedule changes, weather cancellations, roster updates, and similar transactional notifications related to events you have registered for.

Message frequency. Frequency varies based on the events you register for. Most users receive between 1 and 10 messages per month. There is no scheduled marketing cadence.

Message and data rates. Message and data rates may apply. Bracket Breeze does not charge for SMS — your mobile carrier may.

Opt-out. Reply STOP to any message at any time to unsubscribe. You will receive one final confirmation message and no further messages from Bracket Breeze. You can also disable SMS notifications under Notifications in your account settings.

Carrier disclaimer. Carriers (T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, etc.) are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed.

No sharing of consent or opt-in information. We do not sell, share, rent, or otherwise transfer your phone number or your SMS consent to any third party for their own marketing or promotional use. SMS opt-in data and phone numbers collected during account creation are used solely to deliver the messages described above. Service providers that process messages on our behalf (for example, our SMS provider Twilio) access this information only to deliver those messages and are contractually prohibited from using it for any other purpose.

6. Email Communications

We send transactional emails (registration confirmations, event reminders) to your account email address. You can disable these in your account settings under Notifications. Note that critical account communications (password resets, security alerts) cannot be disabled.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and event data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable time, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., maintaining transaction records).

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and row-level security policies on our database. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Your Rights

You may access, correct, or delete your personal information by logging into your account settings or contacting us at hello@bracketbreeze.app. You may also request a copy of your data. We will respond to requests within a reasonable timeframe.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the Platform. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
